From Mineral Resources to Architectural Surfaces

Romantic Stone is a professional manufacturer of flexible stone panels in China, transforming mineral-based resources into advanced surface materials for modern architecture. At the heart of our material system is Econic Lay (Modified Clay), a mineral-based material developed through advanced particle modification to create a versatile foundation for architectural surfaces.

From this material innovation, we develop lightweight stone surfaces that bring the natural character of stone into a more flexible and adaptable format. Our products are designed for applications ranging from architectural wall panels and wall cladding to interior and exterior surfaces, giving architects, designers, contractors, and distributors greater freedom in architectural design.

HOW IT'IS MADE

The Material Foundation of MCM: Econic Lay

Econic Lay, our eco-friendly active soil, is a modified clay material developed from a range of mineral-based and inorganic resources, including natural soil, quartz powder, stone powder, recycled red brick fragments, mineral powder, volcanic ash, and fly ash.

These raw materials are first classified into four natural color groups—red, yellow, gray, and white. Active and non-reactive components within each color group are then precisely proportioned and finely ground into micro-scale particles.

Through a particle-level surface modification process, the particles are treated with fluorine- or nitrogen-based surfactants and coated layer by layer, forming a multi-layered network structure. The resulting highly active inorganic powder, known as Econic Lay or Modified Clay, provides the material foundation for our Modified Clay Material (MCM) system, supporting the development of lightweight MCM panels for modern architectural applications.

Inside Innovation

Precision Introduction Of Flexible Decorative Sheet

From 27 strict production processes to Spanish ink and coating technology, every panel is engineered for realistic texture, stable color, strong bonding, and long-term durability—backed by internationally recognized certifications for quality, safety, and performance.

① Protective Layer

The outer layer is designed for waterproofng, anti-pollution, weather resistance, and dust resistance, while also locking in the product’s natural color and improving overall durability.

② Decorative Layer

The visual layer, core to the decorative value, replicates textures and colors of natural stone, wood, etc., defning the fnal efect of decoration.

③ Flexible Substrate Layer

The core functional layer gives the product fexible characteristics (bending and free shaping) and serves as the key carrier of the "organic plasticity + inorganic durability" performance.

④ Adhesive Base Layer

The bottom layer is made to easily adhere to walls and other bases made of diferent types of materials, providing excellent stability.

Manufacturing Process

From Raw Materials to Flexible Stone Panels

Romantic Stone follows a controlled manufacturing process to transform mineral-based raw materials into high-quality flexible stone panels. From base layer production and precision cutting to 3D printing, surface coating, and final packaging, each stage is designed to achieve consistent appearance, reliable bonding, durable performance, and efficient production for global architectural projects.

Lightweight

At just 3–6 kg/m², our lightweight stone panels offer the natural character of stone with significantly less weight, making handling, transportation, and installation more efficient.

Flexible

Our flexible stone panels adapt to curved surfaces, columns, corners, ceilings, and complex architectural forms.

Durable

Weather-resistant surfaces designed for demanding interior and exterior architectural applications.

Fire Rated

Reliable fire performance designed for architectural wall panels and a range of interior and exterior building applications.

Eco-Friendly

A mineral-based material approach incorporating selected recycled and inorganic resources to support more efficient resource use.

Efficient Installation

Lightweight and easy to handle, designed to simplify installation and improve overall project efficiency.

Sustainable Lifecycle Innovation

From Resource Efficiency to Lower Carbon

Comparative testing under equivalent functional conditions indicates significantly lower carbon emissions, with our flexible stone measured at approximately 4.6% of ceramic and 1.37% of natural stone.

From selected recycled and inorganic resources to lower-energy production, lightweight transportation, and natural return at the end of its lifecycle, Romantic Stone takes a more holistic approach to sustainable architectural materials.

Natural Return

After demolition, flexible stone naturally breaks down into small fragments and can return to the environment in an eco-friendly way. Its breathable structure and controlled water absorption support natural soil integration without harming the surrounding ecosystem.

Production Process

Formed at 90°C ± 5°C through a low-energy molding process powered by renewable electricity and combined heat energy, significantly reducing energy consumption compared with traditional ceramic tiles fired at over 1,000°C.
